When the temperatures outside drop, the need for insulated PPE solutions rises. Whether you work outside in a cold climate or inside a refrigerated building, you need high-quality gear to protect you from the dangers of the cold.
MCR Safety is dedicated to keeping you safe in all conditions. We offer industrial workers a wide variety of protective work gloves, suitable for even the most frigid temperatures. One of our most popular winter gloves is our Ninja Ice product line, which is available in hi-vis yellow, hi-vis orange, and the two black options shown below. We have a section dedicated to this glove below.
There are many factors to consider when selecting cold-weather work gloves. Here are some:
To complicate things even more, we know the large selection of gloves available on the market and within the MCR Safety product line can make it challenging to find the perfect ones for your situation. Just keep in mind, MCR Safety offers many styles and features to ensure your hands stay warm while you work.

with Warmer Packs
When temperatures drop during arctic blast conditions, staying warm is essential. Studies show that heated gloves and lined mittens are the top performers when it comes to keeping workers’ hands warm. We stress this point because frostbite and cold stress are dangers many industrial workers face at job sites.. Having gloves with multiple warming features, like warming packs and inner cuffs, are necessary to keep workers’ hands protected from subzero temperatures.
For the coldest of jobs, you won’t find warmer gloves than MCR Safety’s 983 Extreme Climate style. This glove has the thickest Thinsulate™ lining available from us, designed to stand up to extreme temperatures without interfering with your job. Our 983 Extreme Climate cold weather glove is equipped with a heavy-weight 200g Thinsulate liner and allows for a HotHands® hand warmer pack to be inserted on the back-of-hand.
To ensure your hands are warm, the 983 comes loaded with our best insulation features:
Elastic Cuff
Most importantly, these gloves include an inner pouch for inserting hand-warming products when you need that extra bit of heat. We suggest purchasing HotHands Hand Warmers to use in your 983 gloves.
HotHands Hand Warmers
These air-activated heat packs are high-quality and easy to use, providing long-lasting heat to keep your hands warm even on the coldest days. The last thing you want to happen in cold weather is to get your hands wet. The three gloves shown below provide wearers with all the same features mentioned above, with different Thinsulate™ linings and different colors.
981 – Moderate Temperatures – Black MAXGrid material, 100g Thinsulate™, black snow/water-resistant back-of-hand, Hipora-lined waterproof bladder, inner elastic cuff.
980 – Moderate Temperatures - Black MAXGrid material palm, 100g Thinsulate™, hi-vis orange snow/water-resistant back-of-hand, Hipora-lined waterproof bladder, inner elastic cuff
982 - Moderate Temperatures with cut-resistance - If you require cut-resistance, the 982 is made with the same features as the 980 and also provides ANSI A6 cut protection.
Snow and wind wreak havoc on a worker’s hands.
Freezing temperatures aren’t the only thing that makes your hands feel cold. Nothing cuts through warm clothing and gear like an icy wind. However, windproof gloves can stop a cold wind from numbing your hands with their waterproof and breathable film laminate. The inner lamination protects one from biting winds and from water as long as the seams are sealed.
926 equipped with a waterproof/windproof bladder
Moisture and wind can create an even lower wind chill that makes you feel colder than what the thermometer says. Because of these conditions, it is essential to wear work gloves that also have windproof and waterproof barriers.
We mentioned the Hipora lining feature found in our previous glove. This specially formulated material contains three layers of a microporous silicon coating that blocks the absorption of water while letting your perspiration evaporate to keep you dry all the time. We offer several cold-weather gloves with HIPORA™ lining at MCR Safety.
For the ultimate protection against the elements, look for windproof and waterproof gloves. You’ll work better and be more comfortable when you aren’t fighting the cold of water and wind.
Our goal is to provide tools that quickly allow you to identify the product you require at MCR Safety. On our Insulation page, we categorize our insulated gloves into three different levels of insulation protection: Temperate, Moderate, and Extreme.
We assess where a glove belongs based on its clo lab test scores. As defined by BusinessDictionary.com, Clo is the measurement of insulation needed to provide warmth based on the resting temperature. Official test scores are based on a resting person in ambient conditions where the temperature is 70°F, relative humidity is below 50%, and wind velocity is 250 centimeters per second. A score of zero is that of a nude person, whereas a score of four is that of an Eskimo. So, the higher the clo, the higher the degree of warmth felt by wearers. We don’t list specific clo numbers on our insulation page, but we do offer a range based on clo numbers.
One thing to keep in mind is that as soon as someone begins working, they’re no longer resting. Their body starts producing heat the more actively they’re working, so the clo number should be used only as a reference. However, it is the best measurement one can review when selecting winter clothing.
With its foam and polar fleece lining, our 6714FF is MCR Safety’s warmest glove.
