Wool is an excellent and versatile fiber! It is used to make wool carpet, wool socks, wool blankets, and wool coats. MCR Safety uses it in numerous products, mostly as the liner in our winter gloves and welding gloves. Wool is inherently flame-resistant, so it will not melt, drip, or stick to the skin when it is exposed to a heat source.
Wool is a lifesaver for protecting fireman due to the fact it only smolders and not melt or drip.
In order to become flammable, wool is structured in a way that requires more oxygen than is available in the air. This makes it an excellent fiber for fire safety and strengthening a product's insulation properties.
