Getting the size right is important for any clothing you wear. FR clothing needs to fit correctly, otherwise, productivity, worker safety, and worker satisfaction will likely decline. This means choosing the correct sizing for FR protection is important, striking a balance between a comfortable fit with room to move but not so loose that it is likely to get caught in machinery and pose a hazard itself.
To determine the proper size, you should measure both your chest size and inseam length. Once you know these numbers, there is a sizing breakdown for different apparel after the How to Measure section that can help you determine the proper size.
Measure around the broadest part of your chest. With your arms at your side, approximately 1" down from under your arm.
Measure around your waist where you prefer to wear your waistband/pants.
Measure along the inside of a pant leg from the bottom of the crotch to the bottom of the hem.
Measure around the base of your neck.
Measure from the center of your chest or back to your wrist.
Keep in mind, FR coveralls and other clothing are intended to fit over another layer of garments. In addition, FR clothing is prone to some shrinkage. Both of these factors should be considered when ordering, meaning you may want to consider ordering a larger size.
For on-site fittings, schedule a 360° assessment and have a local MCR Safety representative visit to perform a hazard assessment. During the assessment, a full set of FR clothing can be shipped in ahead of time to allow workers to determine which size fits best for future orders.
